This is a piezoresistive force sensor from Tekscan. The harder you press, the lower the sensor’s resistance. The sensor itself is thin and flexible, but the resistance does not change while being flexed. Resistance changes only when pressure is applied to the round area at the end of the sensor.
The sensor has a force range of 0 – 100 lb. The force ranges stated are approximations. In order to measure forces above 100 lbs (up to 1000 lbs), apply a lower drive voltage, and reduce the resistance of the feedback resistor.
FlexiForce sensors are compared to other force sensors more linear, have less drift, have better rehabilitation, have wider range, and are less sensing area dependent.
