Cypress Semiconductors announces New USB – C range

Cypress semiconductors announced their new range of USB – C – The series of dual and single-port USB-C controllers—the EZ-PD, CCG6DF, and CCG6SF. 

The new series of USB – C are tailored to increase the efficiency of laptops and PC’s. Adoption of the USB-C standard is rapidly developing, with numerous new smartphones, PCs, and laptops presently utilizing it. And when you consider USB-C's capacity to both power gadgets and transmit information while also utilizing a similar reversible connector. With the take-up of USB-C, be that as it may, comes a more demand for new features, better data transfer rates, and lot more.

Cypress claims that this latest arrangement of USB-C controllers enhances the plan of previous ages by incorporating different features. As per the Cypress’ press release “the controllers support firmware upgrades to support the new USB4 standard” by this we can assume that the new USB – C controllers even extends support for USB 4, but it is very much clear that these are not USB 4 Controllers.

For those who are unaware, the new USB4 specification is a significant update to USB's design. Basically, it doubles the bandwidth to expand upon USB-C's performance, empowers various concurrent data and display protocols, and depends on Thunderbolt. It is additionally in reverse compatible with USB 3.2, 2.0, and Thunderbolt 3, conveys up to 40 Gbps activity more than 40 Gbps-certified cables and highlights two-lane operation.

Currently Cypress Semiconductor are testing its new series of USB-C controllers to select OEMs. Its production is expected to commence in Q3 2020.
