With the incredible success of the Raspberry Pi 4, the Raspberry Pi 5 continues to expand. It offers enhancements to the camera, display, and USB interfaces, along with a 2-3x increase in CPU speed and a notable gain in GPU performance when compared to its predecessor. The RP1 I/O controller chip, which is manufactured in-house at Raspberry Pi, provides these interface enhancements.
The Raspberry Pi 5 is the first full-size Raspberry Pi computer that uses silicon developed in-house at Raspberry Pi.
Raspberry Pi 5's key features:

Due to popular demand, the Raspberry Pi 5 includes two new features to help you identify the board:
1) Each board will include a marking on the upper side of the PCB to identify what memory density is fitted to a specific board (visible in the graphic above).
2) All boards carry a unique serial number on the PCB and the individual carton, so you can trace what actual boards have been shipped to a specific customer.

- 27W USB-C PD Power Supply: It will deliver a maximum of 5.1V@ 5A, and allow the Raspberry Pi 5 to power a larger variety of peripherals. It can offer 3A @ 9V, 2.25A @ 12V, and 1.8A @ 15V to PD-compatible products.
- Raspberry Pi 5 case: It has better thermal characteristics to accommodate the greater peak power consumption of the Raspberry Pi 5. It has a built-in variable-speed fan that is powered and managed by a specific connector on the Raspberry Pi 5 PCB.

Active Cooler: Users who want to operate their Raspberry Pi 5 under a heavy load for an extended period of time without a casing can utilize the Active Cooler, an alternate cooling option.

RTC battery: The power-management IC used on the Raspberry Pi 5 integrates a real-time clock and charging circuitry for a button cell, which can power the clock while the main power is disconnected.

Camera and display adapter cables: Raspberry Pi 5 provides two four-lane MIPI connectors, each of which can support either a camera or a display. These connectors use the same 22-way, 0.5mm-pitch “mini” FPC format as the Compute Module Development Kit and require adapter cables to connect to the 15-way, 1mm-pitch “standard” format connectors on our current camera and display products.
